Look around the shelves at your nearest perfume store & you’ll see that we’ve all become a bit sentimental with our fragrances. That’s why it is no wonder that the top-selling Christmas fragrances this year are tipped to stretch back to the mid-1980’s and even fragrances from as far back as the Fifties are making their comeback.

None of the perfumes in the predicted top 10 for Christmas best sellers are brand new fragrances. So have our noses simply ‘grown old’, are our new retail scents ‘out of touch’ or are the clientele just wanting a sense of nostalgia back in their lives amidst all the advancements in modern day life?

Perfume retailers have seen a big move in customers looking to buy re-branded classic designer fragrances from the 90’s – such as Obsession by Calvin Klein. The vintage scents tipped to be top sellers at Christmas for 2017 are; Angel (Theirry Mugler) | L’eau d’Issey (Issey Miyake) | Daisy (Marc Jacobs) | Alien (Thierry Mugler) and Obsession (Calvin Klein).

To coincide, the top selling retail perfumes of the 2010’s so far have been; Si (Giorgio Armani) | Lady Million (Paco Rabanne) | Paco Rabanne (Olympea) | My Burberry (Burberry) and Black Opium (Yves Saint Laurent). Fragrance notes, such as bergamot, vanilla, musk, jasmine, gardenia, mandarin and citrus, are all common among these popular fragrances.

One of the reasons why retailers are seeing a ‘blast from the past’ in the form of sentimental fragrances could be because the scents created in the 90’s have seemingly aged well due to the lightness, freshness and subtlety they offer and can be worn both in the day and at night, as opposed to more ‘modern’ brash, powerful fragrances that are overpowering for everyday use.

The fragrance library, or as we like to call it our ‘Vibrary™’, which is specifically for our revolutionary VIBE® and VIBE® Plus aircare systems, consists of carefully constructed scents that are mainly ‘end-user’ focused. As it happens, a large number of our fragrances match the nostalgic trend this Christmas – fragrances like Bergamot & Sandalwood, Sweet Pea & Wisteria and Lavender & Geranium all contain the popular notes found in the perfumes that are set to be in the top 10 most popular scents this year.
