Vectair Systems’ Prozone® has been approved by TÜV SÜD to the standard BS / EN60335 parts 1 and 2 – the first ever ozone generator to achieve this standard.
Ultimately, this demonstrates Prozone® as a product that can not only clean the air around us effectively, but that is also completely safe to users.
Prozone® produces ozone, which destroys harmful micro-organisms and breaks down odour causing compounds – therefore destroying the unpleasant smells they produce. Ozone production is limited to a certain voltage, to ensure us humans aren’t affected by harmful substances. There is a limitation of standards available for ozone generators; the nearest available standard is BS60335-2-65 for air cleaning devices.
Typically, air cleaning devices use ionisation where one of the by-products is the production of ozone. The ozone produced by this method is uncontrolled and erratic and as a result of this, no ozone generator has been able to pass the standard.
However, through extensive field testing and an independent evaluation by TÜV SÜD, tests have confirmed the output of ozone from Prozone® falls below the occupational exposure limits for all countries within the European Union (provided the operating instructions are followed). The validation tests for this requirement were carried out by TÜV SÜD, one of the world’s leading technical providers of testing services.
Paul Wonnacott, Managing Director, Vectair Systems says: “We are thrilled to learn that our Prozone® ozone generator has reached the highly sought-after standards of TÜV SÜD, without compromising on its effectiveness; killing up to 99.5% of airborne bacteria and viruses.”
The above health and safety requirements for the emissions of such a generator are just part of the approval process of Prozone®, which has also passed the electrical safety standards for BS / EN60335 parts 1 and 2-65.
